Once he has gathered enough to fill the robe, but not too many that they might get hurt during transit, he grabs the corners of the robes and pulls them together to create a large sack. He starts to carry it towards the pool area. The creatures have a little weight but Xie Lian is strong and it doesn't take much effort to escort them to hopefully what will be their new home.
